Atticus, has captured the hearts and minds of nearly 700k followers (including stars like Karlie Kloss, Emma Roberts, and Alicia Keys). In his second collection of poetry, The Dark Between Stars, he turns his attention to the dualities of our lived experiences—the inescapable connections between our highest highs and lowest lows. He captures the infectious energy of starting a relationship, the tumultuous realities of commitment, and the agonizing nostalgia of being alone again. While grappling with the question of how to live with purpose and find meaning in the journey, these poems offer both honest explorations of loneliness and our search for connection, as well as light-hearted, humorous observations. As Atticus writes poignantly about dancing, Paris, jazz clubs, sunsets, sharing a bottle of wine on the river, rainy days, creating, and destroying, he illustrates that we need moments of both beauty and pain—the darkness and the stars—to fully appreciate all that life and love have to offer.

Great book of poetry! His ability to say so much in only a few words is amazing. Each poem sparks a thought, a memory and takes you on your own journey. I love that the book has photos with each poem. A wonderful book of words.

This just made me feel so good. It was like my soul needed some poetry! I can't even explain what I'm feeling right now. I just curled up on my bed, with some Fall Celtic music on in the background, and my cat sleeping next to me, and read this entire beauty in one sitting! It just reminded me about the magic of the world, and how little things are fantastic and dreamy. The photography throughout this book is also amazing, and so perfectly aesthetic. Loved it.

3.5 stars I enjoyed the first book more and I felt like this seemed more about telling people who are in a bad place mentally that they aren’t lost causes or something, some sort of self help poetry maybe?

Atticus has done it again! What a powerful book full of so many different feelings all at once. There’s always one poem in particular that will stick out as the ultimate poem and changes your life for the better.

I’m probably going to be in the minority here but here goes… 3.5 overhyped stars rounded down to 3. She was that wild thing I loved my dark between stars I absolutely loved Love Her Wild, Atticus’s first book. The poems were separated into sections (Love, Her, and Wild) and the poems were placed accordingly. Atticus attempted a similar set up for The Dark Between Stars with varying degrees of success. He started backward with Stars and ended with Dark, which was an interesting choice. In the book’s I’m probably going to be in the minority here but here goes… 3.5 overhyped stars rounded down to 3. He started backward with Stars and ended with Dark, which was an interesting choice. In the book’s description it mentioned that themes range from falling in love, being committed, to accepting the nostalgia of being alone again so it makes sense to start with Stars. However, my overwhelming thought throughout the entire book was how disjointed it felt. I had to actively focus on the section to remind myself what exactly I was supposed to be focusing on. Also, one on my favorite things about Love Her Wild was that the vast majority of the poems were very short but very meaningful. I felt that there were many unnecessarily long poems that seemed almost rambling. These poems had an effect on the pacing, which was kind of off-putting. It felt like some parts were more motivational poster than poetry; The truth is sometimes you can both do better. Pretty sure I’ve heard this sentiment word for word by no less than 4 people. Despite its shortcomings, I still enjoyed this collection of poems very much. The poems I did like, I loved. And the use of pictures throughout gave a good sense of feelings of wonder and nostalgia to go along with the main themes. Maybe if I didn’t read through the entire thing all in one sitting I might have a different view of the coherency and pacing.

MY RATING: 4/5 STARS  I received an ARC from Simon Schuster Canada in exchange for a honest review.  I was sent this book unsolicited and honestly, if I never got it from the publisher, I probably would have never picked up the book and potentially lose all the beautiful quotes/poetry I've since collected since I read it. I'm not a fan of poetry. I don't hate it but I'm also not the type to lean towards it when I have a spare hour to read whatever I want. Let's just say that I have a trouble understanding what good poetry is. Some poems I read sound so cheesy and it makes me shudder but then some seem to hit the exact spot deep inside me to make me feel connected to the words. It's always up in the air with poetry for me.  And that is why I'm so happy to report that The Dark Between Stars does not aim to confuse you and were very good to read for a simple soul like me. Let's not dazzle me with unstructured lines but just tell me what you really mean. The book is filled with beautiful photography, fonts, words, and it's something you can zip through but also tab down to not down your favourites. It's meant for someone who was lucky enough to fall in love and it's meant as an ode to the ones who just can't help be the one that loves a little bit more than their partner in a relationship.  MY RECOMMENDATION Purchase this book for a rainy morning day where you can sip on coffee/tea or a love you want to serenade to.

Perhaps one of the most important things that poetry can offer us is pure, unbridled honesty. Atticus, known for keeping his identity a secret, has always told the truth in each poem he writes. Thanks to Instagram, Atticus's success with his poetry has provided a path for more poets to shine bright. The Dark Between Stars takes the reader on a journey of a blossoming relationship, the ups and downs of committing to one another, and finding oneself wrapped in loneliness once more. The Dark Between Stars takes the reader on a journey of a blossoming relationship, the ups and downs of committing to one another, and finding oneself wrapped in loneliness once more. Similar to Atticus's first book, Love Her Wild, his second book is overwhelmingly romantic and full of pure nostalgia. Each poem leaves the reader with a sigh—with a "I hope I experience this type of love" kind of sigh. Atticus's book covers loving a poet, spending evenings in Paris, allowing the universe to bring two people together, falling in love with nature, and finding your self-worth after heartbreak. You can read through this book of poetry quite quickly, but you'll find yourself thinking about the poems long after you've finished. *I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

I absolutely loved this compilation of poems! Short and sweet, but very meaningful. The concept is amazing and super relatable. I also loved the addition of the images to accompany the poems. Such a beautiful touch! I 100% recommend!

Wow, Atticus to z 0.5* u Love Her Wild vytáhl na 1.5*! Ne, že by se ale nějak zlepšil... Tu hvězdičku a půl má za to, že se v téhle sbírce "básní" našly hned tři básničky, které se mi líbily. I gave chance to authors like Rupi Kaur or Amanda Lovelace. I wasn't the biggest fan but their poetry at least touched my heart sometimes. And then there's Atticus and his poetry from Instagram... Ah... His first book, Love her Wild, is the lowest rated book on my GR. Which is... terrible, right? I was not sure if I should even try his new book, The Dark Between Stars, but I thought that maybe... just maybe... I might enjoy it a little bit more. And I was right... not. I mean... I definitely liked poems better than in the previous book. I found about 3 of them that really touched my heart. But that was all. I think that the main issue I have with his poetry is that it resembles too much of motivation quotes. And I am not even kidding... change one or two words in his poem and you have them. What about copyright? Anyways, other issue I have is that photos take more space than actual poems. I mean... it's pleasing to look at but... I am here for content, not photos. I am quite sad about not liking it because I can relate to author's feelings, living through them right now myself. Would I recommend this book? Personally? No. Atticus's poetry is not bad, but I think it's better suited for Instagram where it should stay. But who knows, try for yourself. You might like it! 1.5/5*

3 for Goodreads sake but I will round it to a 3.5 Atticus will forever be one of my favorite poets. I stumbled upon Love Her Wild over a year ago while browsing Barnes & Noble during a winter afternoon. After deciding to give his book a go I read the whole thing in one sitting. My love for poetry grew profoundly that day. In his most recent book, The Dark Between Stars, it seemed to lack what the first book did not. In Love Her Wild many of the poems were short and sweet but packed a punch. M 3 for Goodreads sake but I will round it to a 3.5 Atticus will forever be one of my favorite poets. Although I did find some poems I loved in his new book, many of them seemed blase and felt like rambling. They seemed to me like words you would read on a motivational T-shirt or poster. Still, Atticus is an incredible poet and a rare one at that. I look forward to reading more of his work in the future!

I read Love Her Wild, a lot. Many times. I loved the way he spoke in this book and the way the words seemed to flow so easily. I was incredibly excited for The Dark Between Stars, I ordered it as soon as I could and couldn't wait to read it. However, I had to do it in multiple settings. I couldn't find the groove to finish this quickly. I attempted again after I finished it. Same result. It seemed to me like a lot of the poems this time were forced, as if the book took priority over the message. I read Love Her Wild, a lot. Many times. I requested this on Edelweiss because the cover was gorgeous and I figured, why not. I'm trying to diversify my reading a little and this definitely stepped outside of my usual area. I was a little meh about it at first but the ending really drew me in. I loved getting to take the journey with Atticus in this book. It was poignant and there were some really beautiful lines throughout it. I can't wait to see it in print, as opposed to the arc on my Kindle. I bet it will be beautiful. I race to fall asleep with you to meet you in the morning a little more in love each day Just a quick review on this one! This added a little bit of beauty and joy into my life. A very quick read. I’m not usually one for poetry but I think I’d like to read more if they’re like this. I love the little stories each small poem tells. I adored so many and even sent a few to my husband because the words told a better story of how much I adore him, better than I ever could. This really made my heart happy.

After reading, and loving, Love Her Wild, I had really high hopes for The Dark Between Stars. I found myself disappointed. While I loved nearly every single piece in LHW, this was a disappointment. I will continue to follow Atticus but worry there may be a "one hit wonder" quality here. I hope I am wrong.

"Her courage was her crown and she wore it like a queen." Love Her Wild spoke to my soul and felt like it was personally written for me. The words got me and left me breathless. Love Her Wild spoke to my soul and felt like it was personally written for me. The words got me and left me breathless. The Dark Between the Stars; not so much. Don't get me wrong there were poems that resonate with my person more than you would believe. I have just finished a two month tour of Europe and the words of Paris and Rome transported me back beautifully. "The first time I walked in Paris there was a great remembering of a thousand different dreams." "It rained in Rome but when the sun came out it seemed fresh like a city made new and the ruins glimmered reminding me that nothing lasts forever not cities not kingdoms not rainstorms." But there was just something with The Dark Between the Stars that was different. Love Her Wild was about independence and finding oneself. The Dark Between the Stars felt like just poetry of love for the first two parts: Stars for places and feelings; and then Between for people. And whilst I appreciated the wanderlust aspect of it; the Between and love for her, whoever she might be, left me unconnected. It was The Dark that I related to most and it was there that I was starting to feel again what I felt before in Love Her Wild. It was the dark and wild aspect that I love the most; it was there that I felt at home; where the words were finally speaking to me. "'Keep your head up', for the old man said, 'for you are a lion don't forget that and neither will the sheep.'" "She walked through life with the eyes of a wolf who belonged to no one but the night." "She was that wild thing I loved my dark between the stars." Finally.
